We provide comprehensive transportation, training, and lodging solutions for those sharing the love of Jesus with isolated people in some of the most rugged parts of Alaska, enabling them to focus on their primary mission of serving these remote communities.
Our calling is to support your calling in interior and northern Alaska. We are a missions support organization providing decades of valuable local experience in all aspects of the organization, to bolster your mission’s efficacy and provide practical, professional support.
God's provision through generous partners enables us to operate our aviation program and the missionary Base Camp, while administering other logistics solutions and working diligently so that we can continuously offer more valuable resources for Alaska's dedicated missionaries.
-Maria Weber, This Generation Ministries
A land of extremes, Alaska is 586,000 square miles containing some of the wildest mountains, glaciers, forests and tundra on the planet, along with iconic wildlife like caribou, polar bears and walrus. Besides immense beauty, Alaska also has over 100 villages without a church, some of the nation's highest rates of divorce and suicide, and a disproportionately high rate of missing women. Over 85% of communities in Alaska cannot be reached by road. We bridge the gap between Alaska's remote communities and the people who are called to provide spiritual, emotional, mental and physical support in these isolated places.
A place of extreme need calls for extreme dedication, perseverance and love for those who need God's Word, and those who get it there.
Be sure to check out the About and Services tabs first for more details about what we do. Please reach out to us at support@muskoxministries.org if you have questions that are not answered on our website.
1) Muskox Ministries is the only organization that offers air transportation, ground transportation, and lodging for interior and northern-based Alaska missions all under one roof (i.e., no need for missionaries to shop around for these services from different places). This greatly simplifies things for the already complex logistics that Alaskan missionaries face.
2) We're the only organization offering these services that is headquartered in interior Alaska and specializes in serving the rugged north half of the state (an area roughly the size of Texas). Culture and climate here are very different from the southern part of the state. Local knowledge and expertise equals more efficiency and effectiveness in everything we do.
3) We do not have any paid staff. Our entire team are volunteers and have careers of their own. This means that 100% of your giving goes to services we provide to Alaska's dedicated missionaries, and not to payroll or living expenses for our team.
4) Our team is made up completely of Alaskans, including our Board of Directors. We understand the incredible value of local knowledge and insight. Our organization is not managed from a distant place in the lower 48, and we do not have team members coordinating daily operations that do not live full-time in interior and northern Alaska. We intimately understand the unique aspects of missionary work in the far north.
The cost of a roundtrip commercial flight from Fairbanks to a remote village on the north slope averages over $1,000 per person. That same flight in one of our planes costs our ministry as little as $300 per person. The price of a hotel in Fairbanks during the summer can exceed $150 per night. A night in one of the cabins at our missionary base camp costs our ministry less than $40 per night. A rental car can be over $100 per day. One of our loaner vehicles costs our ministry less than $10 per day. Point being, we can make your gift go much further when it comes to transportation and lodging services. Giving to us makes more resources available to Alaska's missionaries through our ministry.
We see God moving in so many exciting new ways every week through Muskox Ministries. In five years our resources will have grown so that we can offer more support, more effectively to Alaska's missionaries. The base camp will be fully operational by 2026, offering a retreat center and staging area for 30+ missionaries at a time. Our fleet of aircraft will grow to include more volunteer pilots and at least one or two larger, twin-engine or turbine aircraft with deicing to better serve the far-away coastal villages. Our missionary handbook will be in publication by fall of 2025 to provide an in-depth training resource for teams preparing to serve in Alaska. We're excitedly anticipating what God has planned for the coming years at Muskox Ministries. We're just getting started!
When an urgent request for supplies came in from a missionary in the remote Alaskan village of Fort Yukon, one of our pilots was able to make the flight there in just a few hours and completely free. We can do this because someone like you decided to make a difference in Alaska missions and generously gave. Your tax-deductible gift of $40/month covers one of these roundtrip flights each year to an interior Alaska village in support of a missionary living in the bush. Click below to give.
